Deleting Duplicate
Rows
In Excel
In Excel, how do I delete
rows that are duplicates—that is, rows that match in multiple
columns like Last Name, First Name, House Number, and Street
Name?
It's surprisingly simple.
What you do is make a copy of your data that leaves out the
duplicate rows.
◘ Click somewhere
in the data area.
◘ Select Data |
Filter | Advanced Filter from the menu.
◘ Check the Unique records only box.
◘ Click OK. This hides all the
duplicate rows.
Highlight the slimmed-down data area.
◘ Copy/Paste the data to a new
location.
The copy will omit the
hidden rows, so you now have a version of your data with no
duplicates.

Prepare for the
Unexpected
Summary: Having an incident
response plan can mean the difference between recovering
quickly and losing your business entirely. Learn about some
key areas to focus on when developing your incident response
plan.
Your business most
likely relies on IT for a variety of tasks, including the
storage of business documents, customer information, financial
records, and accounting information. In addition, you probably
rely on computers to conduct many daily business operations.
Though no one wants to deal with the possibility of something
unfortunate happening to their business, planning for the
unexpected today could save your business tomorrow. Here are
some key areas to focus on when developing your incident
response plan.
Data protection: Your business may have thousands of records that are
updated on a regular basis, so it's critical to develop a
system for backing up all of your files. There are a variety
of methods available. One option is called Disk-based backup,
which is becoming the method of choice for many small
businesses, due to both its cost effectiveness and its ability
to provide continuous data protection.

Emailing Securely
Summary: In spite of its obvious
advantages, email can also introduce a number of security
threats and risks to your business. This article discusses how
to use email securely in your small business.
In almost no time
at all, email has become one of the most widely used
applications in business. But email is not without its risks;
there is always the potential that confidential business
information and intellectual property could be stolen,
destroyed, or distributed without your knowledge. In addition,
email is subject to viruses or worms, and other types of
Internet attacks.
Some of the more
serious threats to email include:
Viruses and
worms: Though these threats have been around for years,
they continue to grow in quantity and sophistication. Viruses
have the potential to damage files, software, and hardware.
Worms are types of viruses that automatically self-replicate
and are therefore more dangerous, since they can damage
numerous computers without human intervention.
