Exchange 2007 —
What you need to know
Many of
today's small to mid-sized businesses operate in a
Microsoft Exchange environment. Most of these businesses
have invested in Exchange and Exchange-compatible
systems over the years, and now they are both loyal to
and dependent upon Exchange for email. |

|
Now that Microsoft
Exchange Server 2007 has finally been released, you might be
wondering if it's worth the time, effort, and cost to migrate
to 2007 from your current platform. Find out what's new with
Exchange 2007, and what security issues to consider before you
migrate.
Long time
coming Prior to 2007, the last release of Exchange was
in 2003. Exchange Server 2007 includes many new enhancements
and features that improve upon the 2003 platform. Here are
some of the improvements that come with Exchange
2007:
- More access —
Email inbox, calendar, contact information, and voicemail
can be accessed virtually anywhere, anytime using a browser.
- Better
availability — New data replication capabilities drive
increased availability at a lower cost.
- Richer email
experience — Improved user experience and better
manageability. Desktop features such as quick flags,
sophisticated calendaring, and fast search are now available
on mobile devices.
- Unified
messaging — Employees can receive their email, -voicemail,
and faxes through a single inbox that can be accessed from
anywhere. This means lower cost and complexity through
consolidation of voicemail infrastructure.

secure you need IP-based surveillance.
As hardware
is developed to meet consumer needs, prices become more
and more affordable. |

|
Schools,
municipalities, and businesses of all sizes are finding that
IP surveillance doesn't have to break the budget. In fact,
when cost is measured in terms of protection, a surveillance
system can be deemed prudent by even the most frugal of CFO's.
Today’s IP
(Internet Protocol) Surveillance solutions allow you to
monitor your office, warehouse, or campus from virtually
anywhere. IP surveillance uses the company's existing network
and the public internet to transmit images over the public
network. The system provides motion detection, auto time and
date stamps, easy transfer of visuals, and pre-and post-alarm
messaging. Business owners are notified immediately if an
event is occurring; they can then log on to the system
remotely to see what's happening in their offices and
businesses. With today’s IP surveillance solutions, businesses
can feel their employees and their assets are far more secure
and protected.

E-mail Mistakes That Make You Look Bad
 By Kim
Komando Reprinted with permission from Microsoft Small Business Center
I get an awful lot
of e-mail. Sometimes, people are looking for help with their
computers. Some of it is fan mail.
Other folks are mad
about something I said or wrote. Add to this the barrage of
press releases and an occasional blast from the past when a
former classmate or ex-boss drops me a note.
After facing this
tidal wave of electronic words for several years, as well as
owning my own business, I've developed some strong opinions
about e-mail and correspondents.
Here are eight easily avoidable mistakes you
should know about to keep your image and inbox in tip-top
shape.
